The average life span of an air conditioner is about 10-15 years. This is with proper care and maintenance and moderate use. However, if you use the machine frequently, almost on a regular basis, and there is no proper servicing and maintenance, it will last for about 8-10 years. Moderate use of the AC improves its longevity almost by 2 times. In many cases, it has been seen that an air conditioner machine has lasted for almost 20-22 years. This is a clear indication that the machine has been serviced and maintained well over the years, and hence, its longevity.

However, most of them opine that it is mandatory to get the air conditioner serviced minimum once annually so that it runs in good condition for a long period of time.
